Next week we will be making plans for a very modern engine fitment onto a Beetle gearbox. Its very compact with a very small radiator requirement. Measurements from the gearbox will be taken first.

Greetings, ive just bit the bullet and bought a second hand tub, however the lower front bulkhead section that goes from the back of the dash to the `top hat` section is not in place, can anyone advise me on what to do or if these sections have a mould and are any available?

Hoping to get the wife's Bugle back in shape over the summer

Hi all,

My wife has owned this Bugle for 16 years or so now......her dad built it for her in the late 80's.......currently running a 1.3 VW engine be we've also got an early 2.0 Porsche unit as well.

The pictures are from back in the day......and looks amazing......hoping to bring the old girl back to life during the summer......it's spent the last 8 years in dry storage so hoping it's not too far gone.

Any advice / tips or tricks would be great received.

It seems a lot of these are turning up. I now know of 6 in exsistence. 2 seen on ebay,1 in volksworld,1 in my yard,1 in Portugal,1 in Scotland. Although 20 were supposed to have been built the chap who made them for Lotusmere reckons it was not 20 and that it is more like 12 or even less. Has anybody seen the gold one which is in the gallery pictures?.

Just thought I'd let you all know about the progress of the restoration of my Bugle there will be regular (probably weekly!) updates at the following website:

I am still trying to work out if mine is a Bugle 1 or 2 having measured the wheel base it appears to be exactly between the two! So how do I work it out? I read on here that the Bugle 2 had some additions to the front end, headlight dishes and a moulded reinforcement. Are these what is meant by this?

Any feedback is more than welcome.
